Set your gateway fees

A gateway fee is an amount added to your customer’s total to cover the Bayarcash charge. It depends on the payment channel the customer picks at checkout. You set the fee for each channel once, then choose on each form whether to charge it. This is step 2 of 4 to your first sale.

Check your current Bayarcash rates in the Bayarcash Console before you set your fees.

Set the fee for each channel

Only the account owner and admins can change gateway fees. To set them:

1. Go to Platform Setup > Gateway Fee.
2. Pick a tab: Standard Channels (FPX, Direct Debit, Line of Credit, DuitNow OBW), QR Payment Channels (DuitNow QR for Malaysia and cross-border) or Enterprise Package (cards and e-wallets such as Touch ’n Go eWallet, Boost Wallet and GrabPay).
3. Turn on Enable for each channel you want to charge a fee on.
4. Choose a Fee Type and fill in the matching amount:
   • Fixed: the same Fixed Fee on every sale.
   • Percentage: a Percentage Fee of the sale amount.
   • Combined: a Fixed Fee plus a Percentage Fee, added together.
5. Optional: for Percentage or Combined, set a Minimum Fee. When the calculated fee comes out lower, the minimum is charged instead. Leave it blank for no minimum.
6. Click Save Settings.

Channels you switch off charge no fee, and BCL keeps their rates so you can switch them back on later. Click How It Works on the page for worked examples.

Tip

Reset fills every channel with BCL’s default rates. The change only applies after you click Save Settings.

Charge the fee on a form

The rates only reach your customer when the form has the fee turned on:

1. Open the form and go to the Form Configuration tab.
2. Under Payment Settings, turn Enable Gateway Fee on to add the fee to your customer’s total, or off to absorb it yourself.
3. Save the form.

Common issues

Who pays the gateway fee, me or my customer?

You decide per form. With Enable Gateway Fee on, the fee is added to your customer's total. With it off, no fee is added and you absorb the Bayarcash charge. The toggle is on by default for new forms.

Why can't I fill in the Minimum Fee field?

Minimum Fee only works with the Percentage or Combined fee type. It stays greyed out when the channel's Enable switch is off, when no Fee Type is chosen, or when the type is Fixed.

Does a Minimum Fee stop customers paying small amounts?

No. It only sets the lowest fee added to a sale. Customers can still check out below it. To block small orders, raise your prices or set a minimum order on the form instead.
